Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: 11/20/2024

Hey, welcome to Campfire ("we," "our," or "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") cover how you can use Campfire — our journaling app that combines writing prompts with AI-powered guidance to help you reflect and grow.

By using Campfire, you're agreeing to these Terms. If you don't agree with any part of it, it's best not to use the app.

Got questions? Reach out anytime at chris@joincampfire.us.

1. What Campfire Is

Campfire is a self-guided journaling experience. It's here to help you reflect, gain insight, and build a consistent practice. While we hope it's helpful, Campfire isn't therapy and isn't a substitute for professional mental health care.

2. Who Can Use It

To use Campfire, you must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Sign up with real and accurate info

By using the app, you're confirming both of those are true.

3. Your Account

You're responsible for keeping your login info safe. If something weird happens (like someone else logging into your account), let us know right away.

Please don't share your account or password with others.

4. Changes to Campfire

We're constantly improving things, so:

  • Features might change, be added, or go away
  • The app itself may evolve or take breaks from time to time

We'll do our best to let you know if big stuff changes, but we may not always give advance notice.

5. Using Campfire Respectfully

Please:

  • Use Campfire for personal, non-commercial reasons
  • Don't try to break, hack, or mess with the app
  • Don't post anything harmful, hateful, or illegal

If you break these rules, we may suspend or close your account.

6. Privacy and Data

By using Campfire, you agree to how we collect and use data as described in our Privacy Policy. That includes things like journal entries, device info, and analytics to help us improve the app.

7. Fees (Eventually)

Right now, Campfire is free. If we ever add paid features or subscriptions, we'll let you know in advance so you can decide if you want to opt in.

8. Disclaimer

Campfire is provided "as is." That means:

  • We don't make promises about accuracy or outcomes
  • AI-generated suggestions aren't guaranteed to be right or useful for everyone
  • We can't promise the app will be available 24/7 without bugs or downtime

9. Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Campfire (aka us) isn't responsible for:

  • Any indirect or accidental damages
  • Loss of your data or time
  • Things that go wrong outside of our control

If you're unhappy with Campfire, the best move is to stop using it.

10. You Agree to Cover Us (Indemnification)

If your actions somehow cause legal trouble for us (like breaking these Terms or misusing the app), you agree to cover any costs or damage that result — including legal fees.

11. About the AI

We use AI to help generate journaling prompts and insights based on what you write. It's meant to be helpful, not perfect. The results might occasionally be off or feel irrelevant — that's the nature of AI, and we're always working on improving it.

12. Not Medical Advice

Campfire isn't therapy, and we're not licensed mental health professionals. If you're dealing with something serious, please talk to a licensed therapist, counselor, or doctor. Using Campfire doesn't mean you're in any kind of therapist-patient relationship.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms now and then. When we do, we'll change the date at the top. Keep using Campfire after changes? That means you're cool with the updates.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
